1. Guide book on your one-way video interview

This guide is a quick introduction to your one-way video interview. It is designed to help you succeed.

What you need before taking your interview:

A computer with a webcam and microphone in good working order or an iOS device (iPhone or iPad) with a working front-facing camera and microphone and running iOS 13 or above; or an Android device (smartphone or tablet) with a working front-facing camera and microphone and running Android 4.0 or above ;
A broadband Internet connection;
30-60 minutes to complete your video interview (including registration, device setup, practice question and real interview questions).

Access your video interview whenever you are ready. After checking in, you will be guided through device setup as well as a practice question to help you get comfortable with the interview interface. If you are unable to complete your video interview for technical or accessibility reasons, please read our knowledge base.

2. How a one-way video interview works

Every single one-way video interview comes with its own list of questions chosen by the organization which invited you to take the interview online. Each question comprises of 3 items:

This is a written question prepared for you by the interviewer.

The preparation time

This is the time the interviewer decided to give you to read the question and prepare your answer. The webcam will be activated during the preparation

My camera is not working

1. Is your webcam properly set up ?

Make sure :

You select the camera you want to use:

When setting up the video, please make sure you select the relevant camera in the drop-down menu from the authorisation pop-up at the top of your browser.

If the drop-down menu is frozen, please go to the Preferences menu of your browser to select the relevant camera.

That the webcam is activated and connected to your computer:

On Windows:

Click on the Windows icon
Select the privacy settings
In the left-hand menu, select “Camera”
Check that it is enabled

On Mac:

Click on “Apple”
Go to the “System Preferences” menu
Go to the Devices > Image menu
Check that the webcam is enabled

2. Are other applications using your webcam open?

Before starting the equipment test phase, please check that no other application (Skype, FaceTime, Google Hangout, etc.) is using your webcam. If so, please close the programs in question. When it’s done, please check that your webcam is working with InterviewApp by refreshing your browser page and accessing the Video Setup page.

3. Have you followed all the steps of setting up the video?

Can i take my one-way video interview on my mobile or tablet?

Accepted Answer

You can take your one-way video interview from your smartphone or tablet if you have an iPhone, an iPad or an Android device.

To do so, download the InterviewApp app from the App Store and the Play store on your device.

Question 4

My microphone is not working

1. Is your microphone properly set up ?

Check that your microphone is not on mute and that the microphone volume is high enough. To check that the microphone is properly configured do the following:

If you are on Windows:

Right-click the Audio icon to the left of the time, in the bottom right-hand of your screen
Select “Manage Audio Devices”
Open the “Recording” tab
Click on “Priorities”
Check that your microphone is enabled and that the volume is correctly adjusted.

If you are on Mac:

Click on “Apple”
Go to the “System Preferences” menu
Go to the Devices > Sound menu
Select “Input”
Check that the microphone is activated and that the volume is correctly adjusted.

For best quality sound recording, we recommend using a headset with microphone.

2. Have you followed all the steps of the audio setup?

If you have denied access to your microphone and your webcam when this pop-up appeared, here is how to re-allow access:

Google Chrome: Click on the little padlock on the very left of the URL bar then allow access to the webcam and microphone in the pop-up that appears at the top of your browser. Then refresh the page.
Mozilla Firefox: Click on the little padlock on the very left of the URL bar and delete the "Blocked Temporarily" option in the permission box that pops up. Then r

Android

Accepted Answer

Our Android app, InterviewApp, is available as a free download from the Play Store on your Android device. The app is compatible with Android 4.0 and above.

Procedure on Android

Prior to your interview, please register with the browser on your computer or your Android device by following the link in the email invitation you received.

If you are using a mobile device, you will get a message telling you that you can’t take your interview on your browser and you need to use the app InterviewApp with the code you get.

When you click on OPEN, you would be either:

redirected to the Play Store if you have not downloaded the app yet;
redirected to the app InterviewApp if you have downloaded it.

Once you’re in the app, please paste the code you got on the previous page to access the interview interface.

In the app, you will need to give you first and last names, address, email and phone number. All these information allow you to be properly identified by the interviewer who invited you.

Then all you have to do is follow the on-screen instructions.

Important notice

Do not close the application until all of your answers have been uploaded.

A few tips:

Close all applications open on your device (some applications remain open even if you do not see them any longer on the screen).
Tell your family and friends not to disturb you during the recording.
Be careful not to put your finger on the microphone or the camera of your device and stabilise it on

iPhone / iPad

Our iOS app, InterviewApp, is available as a free download from the App Store on your iPhone / iPad. The app is compatible with iOS 13 and above.

Procedure on iPhone / iPad

Prior to your interview, please register with the browser on your computer or your iPhone / iPad by following the link in the e-mail invitation you received. Then click CHECK IN.

You will get a message telling you that you can’t take your interview on your browser and you need to use the app InterviewApp with the code you get. Copy the code and click OPEN APP.

When you click on OPEN APP, you would be either:

redirected to the App Store if you have not downloaded the app yet ;
redirected to the app InterviewApp if you have downloaded it.

Once you’re in the app, please paste the code you got on the previous page to access the interview interface.

In the app, you will need to give you first and last names, address, e-mail and phone number. All these information allow you to be properly identified by the interviewer who invited you. You will also need to accept our Terms.

Then all you have to do is follow the on-screen instructions.

If you don’t want to start the interview right away, you can practice as much as you want with our mock interview, accessible from the homepage of our app InterviewApp (“Train!” button).
