My microphone is not working

1. Is your microphone properly set up ?



Check that your microphone is not on mute and that the microphone volume is high enough. To check that the microphone is properly configured do the following:

If you are on Windows:
Right-click the Audio icon to the left of the time, in the bottom right-hand of your screen
Select “Manage Audio Devices”
Open the “Recording” tab
Click on “Priorities”
Check that your microphone is enabled and that the volume is correctly adjusted.

If you are on Mac:
Click on “Apple”
Go to the “System Preferences” menu
Go to the Devices > Sound menu
Select “Input”
Check that the microphone is activated and that the volume is correctly adjusted.

For best quality sound recording, we recommend using a headset with microphone.

2. Have you followed all the steps of the audio setup?



If you have denied access to your microphone and your webcam when this pop-up appeared, here is how to re-allow access:

Google Chrome: Click on the little padlock on the very left of the URL bar then allow access to the webcam and microphone in the pop-up that appears at the top of your browser. Then refresh the page.
Mozilla Firefox: Click on the little padlock on the very left of the URL bar and delete the "Blocked Temporarily" option in the permission box that pops up. Then refresh the page and allow access to your camera and microphone in the pop-up that appears at the top of your browser.
Opera: go to your browser preferences and click “Website” in the menu on the left. In the “Camera” section, click “Manage exceptions” and delete the URL of our platform in the blocked sites list. Repeat this operation for the microphone. When it’s done, refresh the Video Setup page and allow access to the webcam and microphone in the pop-up that appears at the top of your browser.

3. Microphone test in the audio setup on InterviewApp



On the audio setup, speak loud enough. If you see the volume bar move, your microphone is working.

4. Practice question



This practice question is designed to help you test the quality of the video and the audio of your answers. If your microphone record there correctly, you are all set!

5. Other tips to solve your microphone issues



Close all other applications that might use your microphone (for instance: Skype, Google Hangout, etc.);
Try recording with a headset;
In order to avoid interferences, make sure you switch off devices like smartphones or other devices that might cause interferences. If you use a built-in microphone with your computer, sit close to your microphone;
Try with another browser or update your browser. Our application is supported by Google Chrome, Firefox or Opera;
Restart your computer and/or browser;
Try with another computer ;
Use a different Internet connection. Your Internet connection may reduce the recording quality of your video interview.
Run a test with Webcammictest in order to identify and solve any other potential issue.

If the problem persists, please note the you can take the interview from your smartphone or tablet.
